The people of Brikama on Thursday organised a Quranic
recitation to pray for the country as well as the wellbeing of the new
government headed by President Adama Barrow.
Speaking on the occasion, held at the Brikama Central
Mosque, the Imam ratib of Brikama Sankung Touray , underscored the important
of the event saying
as Muslims we should thank Allah, the Almighty for the sustainment of peace and
stability in the Gambia and for also granting us the request of our prayers.
The convergent he noted brought together 52 imams and
Islamic scholars among others to beseech the Almighty God to shower his
blessings and guidance on President Adama Barrow, his government and the
country at large.
According to
Imam Sankung Touray they could not have better registered their gratitude to
Allah for peacefully ushering in a new government than to increase their
worship and praise of him by way of Quranic recitation.

Drammeh pointed out the gathering is not a political gathering but rather an
Islamic gathering meant to return thanks and gratitude to the Almighty Allah
for showering peace in the country during the political crisis. He said the
Muslim ummah
should return gratitude and thanks to the Almighty Allah , taken of a verse
from a Holy Qur’an in this conviction
reminded the gathering that during the political
deadlock religious leaders and Islamic scholars countrywide where seeking Allah’s
blessing for peace to prevail, thus the need to return gratitude to the
Almighty for answering their prayers.

Lamin Touray hailed the alkali of Brikama Ansumana Njie, the elders and the imam ratib for convening the Islamic
gathering to pray for peace and prosperity for the nation and the new regime.
He prayed for
Allah the almighty give president Barrow abundant success and pray for his
sustainable leadership steering the state to great achievement

Mohammed lamin Kanteh commended all to responding positively to the call of the
Brikama Alkali and the imam. He advised people to unite and work towards the
socio-advancement of the country
