Gamtel/Gamcel Ends GAF’s dominance,



"AmadouJarju makes immediate mark in turning Gamtel/Gamcel back into a champion’’

Gamtel/Gamcel female volleyball team Saturday registered a momentous win over record league winners Gambia Armed Forces to completely end their unprecedented dominance in volleyball. It was a big match up for the defending champions GAF taking on the telecom giants.
When the decisive moment arrived there were a few seconds when Coach AmadouJarju gave the impression he might actually run all the away from the touchline to join in the victory crowd. Jarju and the technical benchstood outside the court before checking back but he did not have to wait too long before he could be with his players and his first spell assured of a happy ending as they beat the soldiers 3-0.
For Gamtel/Gamcel, it was the moment that confirmed their superiority and they have played a lot better at times this season but there can be no doubt they have been the best team in the country.
Gamtel/Gamcel took an early lead and dominated for the first set with some strong hitting for a win in the first set. Gamtel/Gamcel came stronger in the second set. They showed good structured play and defence, eventually outplayed forthe set.Sainabou Tambedou show her attacking versatility and Anna Marie Bojang with her blocking strength to keep GAF from gaining any real traction in the 3rd set
The telecom ladies came out outstanding in the 3rd set. Tambedou scored the most points couple with solid blocking getting and Gamtel/Gamcel set the tone for the rest of night.The entire crowd all cheered up Gamtel/Gamcel for the fight and chanted for their great win against GAF as they totally removed the crown from them.
