A nursing mother was stroke to dead by lighting




One Penda Bah a nursing Mother of seven months baby from Pallol village, in Niani district, Central River Region North was on Monday evening stroke to dead by lighting while coming from the weekly market in Wassu.
According to one Ass Sowe a native of Pallol Fulla, Penda Bah was coming from the weekly Market at Wassu on a horse cart between Gingoreh Mustapha and Pallol when was stroke by lighting. He further lamented that Penda was with four other people on the horse cart. Mr. Sowe stated that the incident happened during a heavy downpour.
He explained that other four people were hospitalized but later released, saying that nothing happened to them. He said late Penda Bah was staying with her mother who is blind and Penda was the only daughter taking care of her. He reiterated that Penda is gone leaving her seven months baby with her blind mother behind.
Mr. Sowe seized the opportunity and appealed for help for the seven months baby and the blind mother, noting that the mitigating measures at the moment is that the Mother is being assisted by the villagers who are not economically strong to take care of the family of the deceased.
He posited that the Monday evening rains was accompanied by heavy thunder and lightning in the area which has caused alarm.
On her part, Ramata Jallow Penda’s mother said the late Penda is 18 years old and married. She explained that Penda’s husband allowed her to stay with her due to her condition. She noted that Penda was the only daughter and Allah’s call has come. She prayed for Penda’s departed soul to rest in peace and the baby she left behindto become a productive citizen.
