“The press-conference
is meant to avail me the opportunity to outline APP’s next move to the Gambian
electorate,” he told journalist in a press conference at his residence in
Wulinkama last Tuesday.
He said the All People
Party for the young people by the young and to be run by the young people in
all sense.
Mr Beyai noted that
his decision to dedicate the party to the young people is to ensure that they
are represented in the country’s decision making process as they hold 60% of
the country’s population.
“If I take over this
country 90% of my cabinet will be the young people, because he who knows feels
it. I feel is time for the young people to lead this country, and I want Gambia
been the youngest country in the region to set an example,” he said.
He continued:
“Is our time to lead this country and I thank God that we are going to make it
because I am receiving contacts from all over the country, from people who are
willing to rally behind him”.
He also challenges the
new government to work on the electoral reform as soon as possible.
Asked when he is
going to register the APP, Mr Beyai said: “Very soon. I have the full backing
and the funds are available to do that even tomorrow, but I am still working on the ground to ensure that I fully put
together my executive”.
He said though Gambia
have voted for change, the young people still remain suppressed.
“Trust me my
system of government is going to be a decentralize system of government were
all the regional and administrative areas will come-up with their own budget
for regional development, and they will come up their own developmental
initiative,” he said.
He said if elected
every year he will organised a press-conference were all stakeholders will be
present to answer question from their various department.
