Some of the hinted points made by his excellency Barrow during the ongoing press conference.

Some of the hinted points made by his excellency Barrow during the ongoing press conference.
1. "Gambia will remain the Republic of The Gambia not the Islamic Republic of The Gambia". President Adama Barrow
2. "Cabinet positions to be made known by Monday or Tuesday" President Barrow as he also indicated that no fixed time is set as far as Ecowas withdrawal in The Gambia is concerned .
3. President said VP Tambajang appointed in line with the law, adding the relevant documents to back that up shall be shown.
4. BUILDING THE NEW GAMBIA

A Lot of Goodwill
In the past two months or so, the Gambian people have made frantic and frenetic efforts to usher in a New Gambia. We first launched, almost unanimously, a campaign to rid ourselves of a brutal dictatorship. The politicians came together, the writers wrote, the poets penned revolutionary poems, the intellectuals spoke out, and even the school going children took to Facebook. In short, every well meaning Gambian did one thing or the other to make sure that the dictator is ousted. We went to the polls and voted for change. But then the dictator misreading the perennial fear of Gambians decided to make an ill-edvised effort to subvert the will of the Gambian people. He couldn't be more surprised, and I couldn't be prouder, to witness the unprecedented reaction of the Gambia. People. Some took the risky move of speak out their minds in spite of the constant fear of arrest hanging over their heads.
When the International Community saw that the Gambian people were desirous of making a change, they came to our aid. ECOWAS, AU and the United Nations all raised their voices with us. Senegal also, being good neighbors join us in the call for the director the relinquish power. After much dilly dally, the dictator saw that he cannot withstand the combined will of the people. This he reluctantly, if acrimoniously, handed over power.
So, My Dear Compatriots! We have a heavy task. We have inherited a country which has been battered, - almost broken - which we now have to rebuild. We have inherited a country which has become frightened to an extent that people do not even want to talk about government. There is no love lost between certain government institutions and the general public. Human Rights was not respected. People were sacked indiscriminately, some arrested, some tortured, some were even killed. Now after 22 brutal years of suffering, we have been able to elect a new Chief Servant in the person of Adama Barrow. Indeed there is every reason to be hopeful.
We must now come together and fix this country. But let me just remind my fellow Gambians that this is not like in the movies where Olivier Pope will arrive in grand style and just fix the problem. This is real. This is difficult. This will be time consuming. We will quarrel, we will fight, we will criticise, we will be disappointed, we will be hopeful. We will huff and puff, but let us remember that it is all for one purpose and only one purpose, the development of our nation, to build a nation where Human Rights is guaranteed, a nation where there is economic prosperity, a nation where there is freedom of expression, a nation where the ordinary man will have the right and courage to call public officials to account. This is what we want, deserve, and yearn for.
To achieve all this, we must know that there must be divergent views. There must be various methods tried and tested. But one thing is non compromisable: respect for the rule of law.
In conclusion, I want to appeal to all Gambians not to sit on the sidelines, rather, we should all take part in rebuilding our beloved nation.
Forward with The Gambia!
May Allah bless The Gambia!!!
